“Pain Is Super Fun” is a chaotic, charged-up collision of visuals — and that was always the goal. From the first conversation with Haute Feels, we knew this video needed to feel alive, unhinged, and constantly in motion. The concept centered around layering a series of long, single-take oners inside a world that felt unstable and unpredictable, but still tightly controlled underneath the surface.
To anchor the madness, we built a black void in the backyard — literally. It became the space for the main performance, where the band could break the fourth wall and lean into the raw theatricality of the track. The band brought a ton of creative direction to the process, from stylistic references to the energy of the edit, and that kind of collaboration is everything to me. When you work with an artist or band over time, you start building a rhythm — trust deepens, shorthand develops, and you get to help bring their creative evolution to life.
There’s a line near the end of the bridge that’s always stuck with me: “how I wish that I knew I linked your tears so much better with ice.” That lyric captures so much of what we tried to reflect visually — something emotionally volatile but strangely euphoric, even fun in its pain. The whole process was a blast: messy, fast-moving, deeply collaborative, and ultimately one of my favorite creative rides
